Kitchen Bling - Wind ChimesStudyKim Elia - Study

Kim Elia of ScavArtStudio

My challenge is to express socio-political concerns through art.

Art first made itself known to me around the age of seven. While in college I majored in Art, but dropped out. Shortly afterwards, I moved to Taos, NM on a hunch. I was inundated by the desert mysteries.

Having lived there for nearly a decade, I returned to CA. I studied mechanical drafting, briefly. Then, in my mid 40's I started taking art classes and found a new love! - Print making.

I am inspired by pencil on paper (a miracle), color combinations that vibrate, rusty stuff, history, politics, religion, social issues, and especially environmental concerns.

I am fascinated by lost and found objects, conspicuous consumption, and our collective sense of entitlement.

Offerings include hand printed cards, decorative and blank books, prints, mixed media drawings, book thongs, and wind chimes.

In the works are garden art assemblages utilizing castaways, and the next generation of kitchen bling.

As a semi-retired painter, I also like doing interior graphics and faux finishing.
